They looked to The International Court of Justice (ICJ, or World Court) to consider the legality of the Israeli security fence. Never mind that since September 2000, Israel suffered over 19,000 terrorist attacks, with more than 900 Israeli citizens killed and thousands wounded. Terrorist groups responsible for these attacks include the Fatah organization and its Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigade, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and Hamas. Riot police were deployed in large numbers along parts of the border in the town, and security forces blocked one broken section of the border with barbed wire and chain-link fencing. Many shops in the two towns have closed because of police orders. That made little difference because they simply have nothing left to sell. Truck loads of supplies are being held up at the Suez Canal by the Egyptian army. There were many pictures of Palestinians returning with full gas cans. There just seems to be something paradoxical about an Arab needing gas...WALLY WINNER |
