You've Got to be Kidding 11-15-1981 Russ Magaw "You've got to be kidding..." That's a reply we often give when we're shocked, or we can't believe something we've just heard. Sometimes, Scripture can be the same way. We read something Jesus said and think to ourselves that he just had to be kidding. Well, in today's text, he was kidding. As we examine Luke 16, we see how Christ handles 3 of life's biggest issues: 1. money, 2. marriage, and 3. morality.
What God Has Cleansed 1977 Z.B. Duncan The Jews didn't understand the plan of God. They thought they were better than the other people of the world. Even Peter didn't get it at first. The Lord said, "Go," and Peter said, "No!" But sometimes, we have to be willing to give up our old customs and traditions to be led by the Lord. God is seeking righteousness, and He wants everybody. What God has cleansed is clean.
Suspect Thy Neighbor as Thyself 8-29-1981 Ben Mattison Things aren't always as they seem to be. It was seemingly always that way between Jacob and his uncle Laban. The two tricksters could never seem to trust each other. And when we look at what is often called the "Mizpah Benediction," we see that it's really a malediction. But God doesn't ask us to trust people. He tells us to love them. Perhaps, before we have our suspicions about other's motives, we should suspect ourselves first. Genesis 29-31; Psalms 146:3-5; Romans 5:6-8
